WRITING SAMPLE
This multi-media project was created to give potential candidates an overview of different job opportunities within the CIA. The CD-Rom opens with a dramatic prelude, then lets the viewer branch to a series of videos - each portraying different departments within the agency - to learn how CIA personnel work as a team to prevent global conflicts.

Below are the first few pages of this 15 minute piece: If you'd like a copy of the complete script and/or video, let us know via our Contact page.

Cut to a L.S. of a booth in a cafe where a foreign native is just sitting down to join an American for coffee. Cut to C.U.'s of the two as they speak. AMERICAN: I appreciate your coming. Any problems getting here?
NATIVE: (speaking in a foreign accent:) No. But I can't stay long. I came only to tell you something is not right with the exercise. Security is very tight. Special equipment is all I hear.
AMERICAN: What kind of equipment? Weaponry? Communications? What?
(sfx: dishes dropped in background drown out name of the general.)
AMERICAN: A Senior military command general on a routine training exercise? That doesn't make sense.
NATIVE: Exactly.

MAN: Yeah. Heading south.
WOMAN: At rate they're moving, I figure they'll be at the border in less than 16 hours.
MAN: Has Jane seen this yet?
WOMAN: No, I just got it.
MAN: OK, I'll give her a call. In the meantime, let's download yesterday's imagery.
WOMAN: Right.

Cut to a L.S. of a briefing in progress in a small conference room. We see a group of civilians and military personnel listening to the presentation being conducted by a woman and man standing on opposite sides of a presentation board. On the board, we see a large, colorful bar chart. WOMAN: As you can see, they've experienced an unexpected downturn in export revenue over the last 7 months. That's placing extreme economic pressure on an already unstable country.
MAN: So the question becomes: How do you quickly replace that lost revenue? (Removes chart to reveal a detailed map, and points to its center.) We think the answer lies here.
Cut to an overhead L.S. of a military airport. On bottom left, super graphic: Thursday, 16:08 (EST) Overhead superimpose a M.S. of an eagle flying over the scene. SOUND: Continue music.
Cut to a L.S. of a man and woman standing next to the cargo door of a military aircraft. They are watching as a soldier loads some small unmarked crates. MAN: That's the last of it.
WOMAN: Well, you got a long flight ahead of you. Try and get some sleep. Call me when you get there.
MAN: Actually, give me a few hours after I arrive and I'll set up a test run with you.
WOMAN: Good idea. I'll be waiting.
Fade to black. Fade up from black. SOUND: Continue music.

Morph from the above to the head of the eagle on the CIA seal. Zoom out to show the entire seal. Zoom out more to show the seal on the floor of the main entrance. Show a very high angle L.S. of people walking over the seal on their way inside.
